Temple of Gopinath Thakur is situated at Gopinathpur, just 6/7 km east to Akkelpur Upazila sadar in Joypurhat. There is a saying that Bengal Sultan, Alauddin Hussain Shah donated his entire property of East Gopinathpur and Gopalpur Mouza for God during the period of 1520 to 1530. Afterwards, the Gopinathpur Temple was constructed. The structure of the temple was designed as per the heritage of Pal dynasty. The temple was partially damaged in an earthquake in the Bengali year of 1304.  The present structure of the temple was reconstructed during 1928 to 1936. The main building still bears some testimonies of old artistry. The temple is 50 feet in height. Every year a fair is arranged here on the occasion of Dole Purnima & the fair continues for thirteen days. The place is a popular picnic spot also.
